A Sip of Health, A Day of Rest.

One day, my friend asked me to bring her some moringa leaves. She'd heard about their amazing benefits for hair growth and was eager to try them. I agreed and brought her a bag full of fresh moringa leaves. I suggested she sun-dry them, crush them into powder, and then use the powder for her hair treatment.
In my mind, I assumed she would make a paste out of the powder and apply it directly to her hair, the traditional way many people use moringa for hair care. But that wasn't her plan at all!
Instead, she decided to drink it. YES. She mixed a generous amount of moringa powder with water and consumed it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. She'd seen this "miracle effect of moringa for hair" somewhere online and thought, "Why not give it a try?"
Later that day, she called me, her voice weak and tired. She told me she had to rest in bed the whole day because she felt dizzy, lightheaded, and completely drained after drinking the moringa water. Naturally, I was concerned and curious about what had gone wrong.

Understanding What Happened
I did some research and discovered some eye-opening facts about moringa consumption. It turned out that consuming moringa, especially in large quantities on an empty stomach, can significantly lower blood pressure. This is where my friend ran into trouble, and there were actually two problems at play:
First, she already had naturally lower blood pressure: Like many women, her blood pressure tends to run on the lower side anyway. When she consumed moringa without knowing this effect, it dropped her blood pressure even further, causing the weakness and dizziness she experienced.
Second, she didn't start with a small amount: Enthusiasm got the better of her, and she mixed a large quantity of moringa powder into her drink, far more than the recommended beginner's dose. When trying any new supplement or herb, it's crucial to start small and observe how your body reacts. Instead, she went all in, and her body simply couldn't handle it.
The Lesson We Learned
This experience taught both of us an important lesson: never follow everything we see on TikTok, Instagram, or any other social media platform without thinking it through or doing proper research first.
Social media is flooded with health trends, "miracle cures," and wellness hacks that promise amazing results. While some of these may have merit, they often come without context, proper dosage information, or warnings about who should or shouldn't use them. What works wonderfully for one person might be harmful to another, depending on their individual health conditions, medications, or body chemistry.
Our health is precious, and while natural remedies like moringa do have genuine benefits, they must be used wisely and responsibly. The internet is a powerful tool for learning, but it should also be our starting point for research, not only source of information.
